Philadelphia, PA — (May 18, 2015) — The City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation will conduct an auction of 183+ surplus properties on the auction block June 12th.
According to City of Philadelphia Councilman Mark Squilla, who represents the First Council District, the auction will be held as a way to place formerly delinquent properties back on the tax rolls.
“We’ve taken note that the Philadelphia Housing Authority has successfully utilized the auction method for selling surplus properties in an expedited manner,” said Squilla. “It is our hope that we cannot only raise funds but also breathe new life into the areas where these properties are situated by bringing in new investment and development.”
“We are pleased that the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation has selected the auction process as its desired method when conducting this important sale of surplus properties,” said Lamar Fisher, President and CEO of Fisher Auction Company. “Given the wide-range of properties available during this unique event, we feel the auction process will generate the highest number of potential bidders and generate the most revenue for these public entities.”
